How a heat runs
Derby is a launchpad on Meteora's Dynamic Bonding Curve. Every launch runs in a heat with the others created in the same hour, and the track shows where each one stands the moment a trade lands.
Heats
A heat is one UTC hour. Every launch created during that hour runs in it, in a lane of its own, numbered by the order it entered: its gate. The track shows the current heat first and, beside it, earlier heats from the last 24 hours that still have a runner on the course.
- aLow Tide leads: the front runner still on the course is drawn over the field at full heat.
- bIts hatched wake is its speed, and the outlines behind it are where it stood before its last trades.
- cCopper Fox is being sold: its wake sits in front of it, in slate.
- dBrass Band has crossed 85 SOL. It rests past the line in white heat with its place.
- eTuesday is still in the gate: no trade yet.
Position
A lane's position is the SOL its bonding curve holds, net of fees, against the 85 SOL finish. The dashed section lines mark the quarters of the raise: 21.25, 42.5 and 63.75 SOL. A runner's name widens as it nears the line.
Speed
Speed is the net SOL that came into the curve over the last 60 seconds: buys add to it, sells take from it. The longer the wake, the faster the runner is moving, and the wake shortens on its own as the minute passes without trades. When sells outweigh buys over the minute, the wake flips in front of the runner in slate.
Place and the light
Runners that have finished are placed in the order they crossed. Behind them, the runners still on the course rank by position. The light on the track comes from beyond the finish line, so the closer a runner is to 85 SOL, the more of it falls on its lane.
The finish
The finish line is graduation. The trade that brings a curve to 85 SOL completes it, the runner crosses, and its time is recorded. The curve then moves into a DAMM v2 pool whose liquidity is locked for good. The finish and the pool has the detail.
